From the Study is my own little place to publish my reflections and my compositions. The reflections will be on scripture, literature, life, philosophy, and faith. The compositions will include articles, ideas, and poetry.

These are things I find myself writing anyways. Writing helps me think. Speaking and writing are ways of condensing and describing the world around us in words.

I do this, if for no other reason, because I find that I am more thoughtful when I go to the step of editing and publishing these pieces. Even on a silly page that few people may ever read.

Simply put—I do this because it helps me think more clearly.

As a pastor and preacher, my own clarity of thinking, reading, writing, and speaking seems to be of utmost importance. If I can read God’s word and think about it clearly, am I sharpening my tool in order to better serve my congregation? Perhaps, if this is done prayerfully. May this be done prayerfully, simply, and joyfully. May it bring truth and beauty into the world.

Above all may it be done Soli Deo gloria: to the Glory of God alone.

In my study I write sermons. In so doing, I have other thoughts, poems, and philosophical musings come to mind. I simply make them available here. May they bring glory to God alone, and may Christ's name be proclaimed above all.
